Clinical Supervision

Overview

I offer outdoor clinical supervision in and around Uckfield for therapists and counsellors who want to integrate nature in active reflection and work in an embodied and creative way. Together we think about and explore your work as a therapist, the dynamics within the therapeutic relationship and the wider environment, and identify strategies to support your clients in moving toward their therapeutic goals.

I trained as a Dramatherapist and Integrative Embodied Psychotherapist and studied for a Clinical Supervision Diploma in 2021. Since then I have offered supervision in both my private practice and in my part-time role as an Associate Therapist/Supervisor at Beacon House Trauma Services.

I work outdoors in Views Wood and Hempstead Wood in Uckfield, East Sussex, and offer some limited online supervision. I also run a Clinical Supervision group in woods near Selmeston, Eastbourne. If you are interested in joining us, please get in touch by email.

I also offer reflective practice sessions with staff in health, residential care, educational and social work settings. Please contact me directly to discuss your needs.

My clinical supervision approach

I use Shohet and Hawkin's 7-Eyed Model of Supervision (see image) as the basis for my work with supervisees. This allows us to consider and reflect on broader contextual and relational issues beyond simply the client-therapist relationship. I am interested to reflect with supervisees on what they are not bringing, as well as what they are bringing, to supervision.

Areas of interest and experience

My areas of interest and experience include developmental trauma, attachment, loss, grief, shame, anxiety and depression and parent-child relationships. I especially welcome supervisees who work with Looked After and Adopted young people and the adult support networks around them. As an adoptive mother and a therapist with many years' experience of working with this client group, I know how challenging this work can be.

Bringing nature into clinical supervision

When working outdoors, I invite my supervisees to respond to their own internal impulses as well as the processes and dynamics they observe in nature as a way to explore and deepen their understanding of what is happening in the work with the client.

Sessions may include::

  • Guiding clinical case formulation, treatment planning and integration of theory into practice.

  • Fostering reflective practice, self-awareness and professional growth in supervisees.

  • Ensuring ethical, evidence-based care and effective risk management.

  • Providing emotional support, building confidence and promoting resilience.

  • Encouraging culturally responsive, inclusive and respectful therapeutic practice.

"I have deeply valued my outdoor supervision sessions with Lucinda. She listens deeply – both to what you say and more importantly, what the body has to say. Her encouragement to stay with these unspoken stories has led to breakthroughs in my professional development as a therapist working with complex trauma. The way she incorporates nature and its gifts is a unique part of the process for me and I would recommend it highly."
