Whether I’m offering groups and gatherings or individual therapy sessions, my clients are often invited to express themselves and reflect through working with story, objects, imagery and art. Working in this way allows the right (creative and intuitive) hemisphere of their brain to take the lead and can offer group participants and clients new insights, perspectives and solutions, that may be inaccessible to the left hemisphere of the brain alone. Those I work with usually find this a joyful and illuminating way to work.

Many people believe they aren’t creative but if you have ever:

  • lied

  • adapted a recipe

  • decorated a room or your whole home with a mixture of styles, colours, objects

  • played with language or accents

  • made up a pun or even a joke

  • had a vision for a business

  • .solved a problem

  • tried out a different route to get somewhere you regularly travel to

  • thought ‘what if…?’

then you can be certain that you are creative!

Working creatively in therapy allows patterns of thought and behaviour that once developed as survival strategies to be understood and healed. Change often happens imperceptibly and organically. Over time, you may notice yourself making choices that feel more aligned with who you truly are and what matters most to you. From this place, you begin to access greater emotional freedom, deeper connection and greater confidence in your resilience and power.
