Nature, Presence, Practice and Play

A monthly experiential clinical supervision group for psychotherapists and counsellors

A monthly experiential clinical supervision group for psychotherapists and counsellors, meeting in private woodland in East Sussex. Clinical supervision that invites the whole therapist (body, heart and mind) to notice, connect, and explore and deepen their clinical skills and their identity as a therapist.

Tell me about the group…

As well as examining clinical cases, questions and dilemmas, participants will explore how their own experiences, feelings and responses impact on the way they work with clients. Drawing on the natural environment, embodied exploration, creativity and group process, they’ll have opportunities to approach their work from different perspectives and perhaps discover something new about their clients and themselves.

The group offers a balance of clinical discussion, experiential exploration and reflective learning, with a programme that responds to the clinical interests and developmental needs of its members.

And, of course, there'll be time around the campfire, with refreshments and home-baked cake!

Who is the group for?

Rooted & Reflective is for psychotherapists and counsellors who are:

  • Curious about, or already working with, embodied and experiential approaches in their therapy practice.

  • Interested in exploring the relationship between the natural environment and therapeutic work.

  • Open to learning through creativity, movement, metaphor, play and direct experience.

  • Looking for a reflective, relational approach to clinical supervision that includes attention to the therapist as a person as well as their clinical work.

  • Interested in sharing perspectives, ideas and challenges with peers across different therapeutic approaches.

  • Wanting to deepen their professional identity, develop their practice and explore new ways of working.

What will I get from it?

The group offers opportunities for:

🌿Exploring embodied awareness; experimenting with movement, mindfulness and sensory awareness, noticing how the body, nervous system and natural environment influence therapeutic presence and practice.

🌿Deepening reflective practice; learning more about your personal and professional identity, values, responses and experiences as a therapist.

🌿Bringing your clinical work; sharing cases, therapeutic relationships, dilemmas and questions, exploring clinical themes, theory, ethics and different perspectives.

🌿Learning through experience and creativity; experimenting with art, metaphor, play and other creative approaches to open up new perspectives on yourself and your work.

🌿Exploring relational and ecological process; noticing the interplay between ourselves, one another and the wider living world, including themes such as boundaries, connection, risk, uncertainty and endings.

🌿Developing a sustainable practice; sharing learning across therapeutic modalities, identifying ways to integrate insights into client work and considering how to sustain yourself in the work over time.
