I was drawn to study Dramatherapy because of its focus on healing and connecting with the ‘well-self’ through playful, body-based and creative exploration. It was only as I progressed through my training and personal therapy, that I began to recognise how my life to date had been dominated by the wishes and needs of others - and parts of me had got completely lost along the way. Dramatherapy allowed me not only to explore my story, but also to being my own journey ‘back home to myself’ - a journey that continues.
As a therapist, I see myself as a meaning maker; I support my clients to make sense of what has happened, and is happening, in their own lives - and then to do things in a different and new way that leaves them feeling healthier and happier. Together, we explore both the painful and the positive, uncovering patterns of resilience, courage and possibility.
The natural world has always been an important place for me to be since my childhood; it continues to offer me a sense of comfort, perspective and a feeling of being fully alive - a place where I can feel at home.
The therapeutic approach I offer is shaped by the tools and environments that have helped me reconnect with my own healthy self. I provide a grounded, compassionate and non-judgemental space where my clients can explore their experiences and discover the meaning within their own lives.
When I’m not working or caring for my family, you’ll usually find me searching out hills to walk with my dog, Otto, rowing, baking, needle-felting, or weaving.
