Press Pause & Play
A monthly group in nature for stressed business owners helping them to disconnect, decompress and recharge
Every third Tuesday of the month 9.30am - 12.30pm in Crowborough
What to Expect
This is a chance to step away from the stresses and strains of everyday life: the work that you love but that may bring stress, overwhelm and overthinking, as well as other responsibilities you carry, the pace of modern life, the constant pull of screens and the uncomfortable news from the wider world.
Press Pause & Play is a monthly space for you and others like you to slow down, reconnect, and feel refreshed, inspired and ready to face the world again. Together with others, you’ll be guided in caring for your body, heart and mind, playing freely, sharing openly, being creative and allowing yourself to truly rest and relax - once a month for a full 3 hours in the woods.
Why You Might Like To Join Us
If you are a business owner, your days - probably all seven of them - are probably filled with your customers’/clients’ needs, the demands of constant marketing on social media, and the pull to develop new ideas and strategies. Add to that the pressures of home and family life, and you may find yourself constantly thinking, analysing, coping, managing. ‘On’ all the time and wondering where the ‘Stop’ button is!
You may recognise that you are :
sleeping poorly
irritable and fragile
overeating, drinking too much, buying more than you need
struggling to switch off
feeling overwhelmed
suffering headaches and digestive problems
constantly scrolling on social media
socialising and doing the things you enjoy less often
These are signs that your nervous system is in a high state of stress. Stress triggers the body’s fight-or-flight response and our human bodies have not evolved to tolerate or thrive in a perpetual state of stress. Sustained stress can even increase your risk for long-term health issues like heart attack and diabetes.
This monthly woodland gathering offers you a chance to slow down, decompress and downregulate your nervous system and offers opportunities to for you to:
come together in community without pressure to perform, fix, or be “okay”
feel and move, as well as talk
find expression through creativity - process not performance or product
work in and with nature as co-regulator, mirror and teacher
discover more about who you are and what you really need
learn strategies for improving your emotional wellbeing beyond the sessions
Here, in community we will practice being fully alive - reconnecting with the full range of who we are, giving ourselves to our wishes to share and belong, and rediscovering a sense of peace within ourselves. Rested, refreshed and recharged, you will leave feeling mentally, physically and emotionally better, uplifted and better able to manage the stresses of the work you love as well as other areas of your life.
Group Format and Content
The group’s structure allows participants to feel safe and held whilst allowing for flexibility, and the mood and wishes of the group on the day to influence the activities. We start round the campfire with a welcome, a check in and a story before moving on to activities inspired by the story and the needs and wishes of the group members. These may include:
slowing down and noticing 🌿 movement and body practices 🌿 discussion and sharing 🌿 using image cards and nature for personal enquiry 🌿 creative expression through art, story and metaphor 🌿 using the hands to make things 🌿 creating rituals for meaning making and celebrating 🌿 individual, small and whole group activities
We then return to the campfire circle to reflect on the learnings and ‘take-homes’ and close the group. Hot drinks and home-baked cakes/biscuits are available throughout the session.
Practical Information
This is currently a drop in group which means that you can book a place to attend the group on a month by month basis - you don’t need to sign up to attend every month. This may change as the group evolves. The group is held outside in a private woodland space. There is a sheltered area that we are able to use as and when necessary but please make sure to wear appropriate footwear (sturdy shoes or boots, particularly in the winter) and clothing (layers and weatherproof jackets as appropriate). An inside toilet is available.
The cost is £30 per session and £165 if you book 6 sessions .
Please let me know when you book, if you have any mobility, access or dietary requirements. The group takes place at Wild & Green in Crowborough.
